In Blue Handmade started in 2008, with a sewing machine newly purchased while relocating from Chicago to a small farm in Southern Illinois. Going from "I" to "we" with a team of six leather working magicians In Blue Handmade has gone from one brick and mortar shop to a studio that they call home.
In Blue resides in a converted warehouse studio space in West Asheville, North Carolina. Together they make each piece by hand. They start with top grain cowhides, trace and cut pattern pieces, sew 'em up, stamp down the rubber stamp ink, and ship 'em out. They take their wares on the road, attending and vending many major music and arts festivals, including Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Merle Fest, Pitchfork Music Festival, and the Newport Folk Festival.
